Description
The Petaluma Marsh Kayak Tour - You'll feel like you are entering a whole new world when paddling this hidden gem very close to the town of Petaluma. We explore the narrow sloughs accessible only at certain tide levels and paddle our way through grasses, rushes and reeds where birdlife and waterfowl are abundant.
After paddling for 3 hours or so, we’ll then retrace our paddle strokes back through the marsh, to the river and back to our starting point.
We can only run this tour when tide conditions permit, which only occur at certain times of the year.
Meet Time: Varies - Once on the water, paddling time is typically 3 hours.
Location: Gilardis Marina (aka Papa's Taverna) Lakeville Hwy, Petaluma
Cost: $99.00 Per person.
You may only purchase this tour in sets of 2. Two people per one Tandem Kayak.
- Total group size is limited to 16 guests.
- Please note that we use two person kayaks exclusively. Therefore, you may only book 2 spaces at a time.
- Sorry no single reservations will be taken.
- Our tandem kayaks are comfortable and very stable. Total weight capacity for each tandem kayak is 600 lbs. You must be able to fit in the cockpit that is 35" x 17". Please contact us if you have any concerns about being able to fit in our kayaks.
- You will be outfitted with a life jacket, waterproof splash jacket, a watertight sprayskirt (keeps water out of the kayak) and paddle.
- We do not allow paddlers to bring their own boats.
- After making your reservation, you'll receive an email confirming your reservation. Kayak tour details will be sent prior to your tour date. You can also access tour details in the links below.
- Tickets are not used for our tours. You will not be mailed any tickets nor do you need to pick them up at our store.
Staff
Our staff of guides are experienced tour leaders and paddlers. They also have training in First Aid/CPR, certifications from the ACA, BCU and other paddling-related organizations and love to share the joys of touring our local waterways in a kayak and helping you become a better paddler.

Great tour!
From Stan Oberg of Moraga, California on .
This tour was outstanding. Scoot and Ryan, the guides, were knowledgeable and professional in every way. It was a small group (4 participants), and everyone was made to feel welcome. Scott obvious knew the maze-like marsh very well, and did a wonderful job of leading us, and of pointing out the sights.
I have done several tours with Clavey, and I recommend them highly!
Great afternoon
From Peggy of Novato, California on .
We had a perfect warm fall day for the Petaluma marsh tour. Scott is a fabulous guide and confidently navigated the maze of estuaries, including some narrow pickleweed channels that made me feel like a Native American paddling in a world before the distractions of modern life. We saw an enormous great blue heron and what may have been an owl, as well as vintage planes doing stunts overhead. I am a novice kayaker and had a great time!
